Words of Encouragement

This quote says it all ...

The fact that this is from Audrey Hepburn makes it even better.  (love her!!)
My garden is a neglected mess, but I believe that I will be here for enough tomorrows to try to bring it into better condition.  I have two very special people coming to visit in the next couple of weeks, and I am trying not to work myself into a froth to get ready for them.  What I plan to do is to take my own advice, that I give to other people when they are stressing about their roses ... the garden is what it is, the visitors are coming to see ME ... and I will enjoy the time with them no matter what the garden looks like when they're here.
If I concentrate hard enough, I think I can convince myself that the weeds are 'filler' in the arrangement.

  1. Amen! We are all works in progress, just like our gardens. Weeds have already gotten the better of me this year, I can't help it, but I will be out there enjoying it inspite of the weeds! Have a great day!

  2. Yes, Connie, it is what it is . . . and it’s perfect because you have designed, wrestled, appreciated . . . loved it. (There is that bit of a mess on the end of your kitchen counter but other than that ~ nuff said) Once I was hosting out of town guests. Prior to their arrival a friend said, “Enjoy yourself.” I was working so hard to get things ready, that thought had never occurred to me. So I did and I’m passing that thought on to you ~ Enjoy!!

  3. All will be fine, but I've known the same kind of angst from past experiences. It is difficult to not wear out before the visit, but do try to take it slow and enjoy.

  4. Connie, Looking at my notes, the Jeanne LaJoie rooted from one of your cuttings in 2009 (and put in the ground much much later... ok spring 2011) is blooming her little canes off on our fence. If I did not know the mother plant at your place, I'd say mine was mislabeled and is actually Clair Matin. I have those 2 side by side on another trellis. This method was ultra easy and worked so well. Thank you for posting it.
