This afternoon, I took Emma to see Dr. Tran, her holistic veterinarian, for an acupuncture treatment. When the dogs ride in the Jeep, I fold the seats flat and pad the floor with cushy blankets. It makes for a very comfortable trip, and Emma seemed to enjoy herself.
(That's a freeze-dried liver treat on the blanket in front of Emma.)
Emma got a lot of extra needles today. It's really weird that she doesn't flinch at all as the needles go in. After Dr. Tran is finished, Emma looks a little bit like a pin cushion.
Once the needles are placed, I sit with Emma and she rests on a cushy dog bed and relaxes for 10 to 15 minutes.
Both of us deserved treats on the way home, so we ran through the drive-through at McDonalds. Emma got a plain hamburger ... I broke it into little pieces and she ate every crumb! I had a Mocha Frappe (yum!)
I love getting acupuncture myself. I had it a few years ago for bursitis in my hip instead of cortisone. Feels great and so relaxing. You had my favorite at McDonald's and Emma had Bailey's.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Emma is feeling better! Glad she enjoyed her hamburger! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteShe looks so comfortable. I'm really glad she's getting better and didn't mind the ride.
ReplyDeleteHopefully she is on the mend. It is hard when they get older like this. I used to take mine to McDonald's too. The clerk always gave them cookies to accompany their burgers.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Emma was up to going to her appointment today and that she is doing better! Acupuncture is a wonderful thing!
ReplyDeleteGive her a big hug from us!
Kat :)
She looks like she's having an ahhhhh moment!
ReplyDeleteLove that you spoiled her with a burger... we do that too! Hey, dogs, like us.. well, they only live once and we may as well them them enjoy their time on this earth.

We've used acupuncture on dogs with excellent results. I must have missed the Emma neck injury post -- I will go back and find it -- but our boy Dion has injured his neck and spine many times -- he's a bit of a chucklehead and not a graceful boy. What he would need was always Rimadyl and crate rest and walking on lead to prevent hijinks.
ReplyDeleteHis past life of derring-do has left him with some painful arthritis in his joints from repeated insults to them. I hope Emma has no lasting results from her neck injury.
Poor baby -- but she does look pretty comfy! You are such a good Mama.

LOL.. OMG, so glad to know I am not the only one who goes through McDonalds to get my dog a cheeseburger sometimes. JUST SOMETIMES!....
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news. Hugs to dear Emma.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that she is on the mend. Had to laugh at the fast food treat. I used to do that when traveling with my golden retriever ages ago. Have a happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteWe have used acupuncture on the pups as well as the horses-both with great success! Is Emma doing better since her treatment?
ReplyDeleteWe had Zeke on Rimadyl but he had a few side effects :( So his current cocktail is Cosequin and a aspirin per day. He is doing great on this combo and has been for about 15 months.
Glad Emma got to lunch at her fave place! And you had my fave thing at McD's!
xo, misha
I am glad Emma is doing better. You know I have experience with this sort of thing too. I know just what a roller-coaster ride it is to have an elder-dog. She would not have been in this good condition without a loving mom like you. She is lucky to have you for a parent!
ReplyDeletePoor, poor Emma. I hope the hamburger tasted good to her! And, I know that you feel badly because YOUR baby hurts! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI've had an acupuncture treatment before and it works! I hope Emma feels much better after her treatment! (And her burger!)
ReplyDeletePraying that the acupuncture cures Emma's pain, Connie! Hugs to you both!

Emma appears pleased in your photos. Glad she's feeling better.
ReplyDeleteWe used to go through Burger King on road trips with Charm and give her a small burger, too!
I absolutely
ReplyDeleteLOVE your heart,
Connie. No one
could love or do
more for her sweet
pets than you do.
Here's to many more
McDonald treats in
Emma's future!
Happy Fourth of July!
