As an interim solution, I borrowed a coffee maker from our daughter's wedding presents and used that for a few months. I never liked this one ... there were times when the carafe and the filter basket would get misaligned and the coffee would overflow the basket and make a mess on the counter. The best thing I can say about it is that it was better than nothing.
Right before Christmas, The Husband brought home a shiny new Keurig. We had talked about maybe getting one, so it wasn't a surprise that he decided to go ahead and buy one.
With the arrival of the Keurig came the dilemma of where to store the K-cups? I thought about it for a minute, and I realized that I already had the perfect thing!
I bought these wooden sewing machine drawers a long time ago, and they have been sitting unused in my sewing room forever. They still wear their original finish and I love the patina ... I need to put some sort of a top on them, tho.
Morning coffee is one of life's essentials for me ... my family knows that it's best not to get between me and the coffee pot when I get up in the morning. I love the fact that this new machine will brew a 12-ounce cup of coffee in only about a minute. That's MY idea of instant coffee!
Happy Sunday, Everyone!
Great idea, Connie. The size is perfect. Well done!
ReplyDeleteConnie what great storage! I love my morning coffee also! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI like that a lot better than the K-cup carrousel I bought for my daughter! However, her taste and mine are vastly varied!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the perfect solution!
ReplyDeleteOh- I hear you- it is coffee for me first thing in the morning, too. My daughter has Keurig, too, and they love it. I love my good old Bunn...with the water reservoir...instant gratification in the morning- pour it in the top and it comes out in the bottom. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteA perfect choice for your perfect cup of coffee! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! My husband had been wanting a Keurig and I got him one for Father's Day last year but couldn't figure out a way to store all those K-cups so I bought one of those drawer storage thingies meant just for that purpose. Now I wish I had thought of something more along the lines of this! Wonder if he'll notice if I make a switcheroo? ;)
ReplyDeleteMorning Connie,
ReplyDeleteAh yes...the nectar of the Gods!
Not sure if you noticed, but at the shop I keep my K-cups in old sewing machine drawers also..all painted in Chalk Paint® colors...they do fit perfectly. Great minds think alike ;->
I am sure we are both enjoying a cup right now...miss you my friend...let's do lunch on a Monday!!

Old Sewing machine drawers are so cool looking. I'm glad you find a use for yours. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat is really very clever. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your postal drawers! Those are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGood on you!
What a pretty little box to sit on the counter. I haven't gone the route of Keurig. Somehow it seems more expensive with all the packaging. I had to replace our coffeemaker last year and decided on a Cuisinart. We like it a lot.
