Return to Hollywood Cemetery .... Flowers on Friday.

As I look over my rose photos from last year, I come again and again to those I took during my visits to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.  I cannot overstate how much I enjoy visiting this cemetery.

For this week's Friday Flowers, I'll share with you some more of the roses found here that I haven't identified yet.  If you think you may know what any of these are, let me know.

A Few Tweaks to the Blog

I love it when I find a new blog that I enjoy, and the blogger includes labels in their sidebar ... it's like having an index.  Because I like it so much, and I figured you might like it too, I am in the process of adding labels my own past posts.

Now, if you want to have all the Friday Flowers posts in one place, or you want to see everything that relates to the greenhouse or the Rose Field, or if you just want to find all the pictures of pink roses ... the list of labels is right here to help.

I've updated every post since August so far, adding labels and converting each post to the new larger photos/larger font format.  As I get the time, I'll keep at it until all posts are indexed and labeled, and there are no more teeny photos.

(To tell the truth, with everything that's been happening here these past few weeks, I'm a bit blog-blocked.  It doesn't help that it's winter and there's not much garden-related stuff to tell you about.  Tomorrow is Friday, so I'll have Friday Flowers to brighten my day.  There's also a greenhouse update that you'll probably be interested in.)

See you tomorrow.

Hollywood Cemetery ... Flowers on Friday.

The new year has arrived, and Friday Flowers here at the Hartwood blog lives on.  This morning, let's see some more of the photos that I took this summer during my visits to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond ...  along with the markers on the plots where the roses were planted.

These first three roses are probably all Safrano.

Duchesse de Brabant is also found on more than one grave.

Most of the roses I have photographed here, however, are unknown to me right now.  I'm sure someone knows what they are ... I just haven't talked to the right person yet, I guess.

I have featured Hollywood Cemetery here before, and I have no doubt that I will do so again.  (Click HERE to see a slideshow of photos I took in June 2009)  This place is a treasure, tucked beside the James River just beyond Richmond's downtown area ... you just have to see it for yourself.
