She gets more readers and comments than I do, so I asked jokingly told her that she should do that post instead of me ... and she agreed. Her "Name That Rose" post, written in perfect Nana Diana style, is HERE. The readers who commented offered some very imaginative names for consideration.
I have a couple of favorites among the suggestions, but I'm not going to tell you what they are. I will let you decide that for yourself. Run over to Diana's blog, and see what her readers said. If you are so inclined, feel free to leave a comment here or there with your own idea for a name.
This is all I have time for today. Open Garden starts in two hours, and I still have a couple of things that I have to do before visitors arrive.
Happy Sunday, Everyone!!

Sunday Snapshots are posts that are devoted to a moment in time that represents a slice of life in Hartwood, or wherever else I happen to be at the time.
Diana's post cracked me up! I had no idea you dressed for gardening :)
ReplyDeleteBased on her post, I offer the name Lovechild.
I love that name, too!!
DeleteI only dress for gardening when I’m expecting special guests. ;)
I go to Diana's blog first thing each morning. I would like to know , with all your lovely roses, do you have lots of bees there? I hope so. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteDiana is among my very favorite online friends, and I am very grateful to have found her so many years ago.
DeleteBees? Oh my, yes! This garden gets absolutely nothing in the way of insecticide (not even soap), and the bees flit from flower to flower and other bugs find their healthy balance. Except for Japanese Beetles, which are a scourge. Still, my control method for JBs is to flick them into a bucket of soapy water each morning. Direct control of only the offending pest, and tons of satisfaction for offing them myself.
That post was so funny! I love all the fun names that have been suggested. I'm only saying 'Rosemary' since that is my new Granddaughters name!
ReplyDeleteI love that your granddaughter's name is Rosemary ... I'm really partial to old fashioned names for children (and cats, now that I think of it), and Rosemary has always been a favorite.
DeleteHope Open Roses was a huge success. It was my mom's 75th and as much as I would have loved to take her to smell the roses for her BirthdayIi had to concede to lots of other family wanting to spend the day with her. Next Time!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your mom! We had a family gathering here yesterday evening after Open Garden to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday.
DeleteNext time for sure!
PS: what ever it's name will be, I need some in my garden!
ReplyDeleteThe Seedling needs to gain some size and show what it can do in the garden before I can register a name or propagate it to share. I sure hope it hurries up, because I see great promise in that tiny plant … and there were some wonderful name suggestions.
DeleteWhat a hoot that post was! She has a delightful way of writing. I went with what she suggested, as my first thought was blush. Blushing Baby gets my vote. :-) Whatever name you choose will be just right for this lovely new rose.

I love Diana because she is sweet, kind, and so, so funny! This is just one example of the wonderful, off-the-wall things that go on over at her blog.
DeleteWhen I saw this little rose, I immediately thought how sweet it is and so happy with the yellow stamens in the middle...and what loves those stamens more than anything? Bees do, so I vote for the name "Sweet Bee"
ReplyDeleteI like it!! My neighbor's bees really love the other singles that grow in my garden ... I'll bet that they will love this one, too.
DeleteI think "Lillian's Lovechild" would fit the situation.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Jim!
DeleteI love Blushing Baby! Perfect!♥
ReplyDeleteI love it, too!!
DeleteI offered a few, but my favorite is Ruby's Blush. So fun to have a discovery like this! And it's such a happy little rose. I'm disappointed to have missed your open garden. I was too busy at work to squeeze a road trip in, but I certainly thought about it!
ReplyDeleteI am overjoyed at the thought that you were trying to make a plan to come down here. Doesn’t matter that you couldn’t work out the timing or details … the effort you put into it makes me smile. To be honest, the roses were much more showy two weeks ago. I didn’t have the weekend day to devote to being here for an open garden till last weekend, so visitors got the best of what I had left to see.
DeleteYou’re the sweetest thing!
There seem to be a lot of support for Blushing Baby. I think that's very pretty.

I think Blushing Baby may be my favorite. Have to see how well this little rose grows and performs before it will be time to officially register a name for it, though. Putting this one in my back pocket, just in case.
