Home!

Actually, we have been home from Montana for a week now.  It was a whirlwind week away that required another week to catch up with things here and recover from all the fun.

Our cats were in the capable care of our daughter.  Ruby and Winnie spent their vacation at my parents' house, being spoiled beyond imagination.

How glad were the critters to have us home?  You decide ...

Here we were, Dorothy and Winnie and me, watching football, and my husband was fortunate to have his phone at hand to capture the scene.  Winnie has never been a lap dog.  She prefers to sleep beside her humans ... and she has never tolerated the presence of a cat near her when she's with HER mama ... little resource-guarder that she is.

It's good to be home, and to be here, too.  FB peeps saw our Montana adventures as daily posts ... you all will get the whole week all at once ... in a day or so.

    1. I totally agree! As much as I love traveling, I love being home even more. Seems ironic that this nomadic, former Army brat is such a home body. (and The Wizard of Oz is one of my all-time favorite movies, too.)

    1. Our daughter keeps things in order very nicely here, but it's not like having their mama at home to maintain our usual routine.

  5. I thought of you yesterday, wondering where you were and thinking about not seeing any recent posts. Before I got too worried, I remembered that you were going away somewhere.

Glad you had a great time and made it home safely.

I'd say your critters missed you 'greatly'. That is a precious photo.

Have a great day ~ FlowerLady

    1. Posting has been a bit more infrequent than it used to be. So much fall stuff to do, and I'm spending my usual early-morning blogging time beating the heat to work in the garden.

I am very, very glad that my husband had his phone on the end table beside him to capture the scene. Anyone who knows Winnie well would never believe that she shared space (and was on my lap, no less) with a cat, without the photo evidence to prove it.

    1. Ruby always does exactly the same thing when I go to my parents' to pick her up after being on a trip. She meets me at the door, gives a quick sniff to confirm my identity, then she goes completely bat-sh*t crazy, squealing and yipping and jumping, so glad to see me. Winnie scampers and spins and wiggles all over. It's totally adorable!

    1. This photo is just another example of the wild life that we live here in Hartwood. :)

Watching football on the sofa, in pajamas, covered with critters. That's my idea of a perfect evening.

    1. Thank you! Everyone is back to normal now, with our routine and the critters' habits. Last night, Winnie was sleeping beside me on the sofa ... lap time was really nice while I had it.

  9. What a sweet picture. It must be nice that everyone wants to see and will tolerate one another for a bit of your attention. It's another towards their acceptance of each other, right? 😊

Fall in the the garden is like Spring in the garden--very busy. But what we do now prepares our gardens for Spring too!
