I loved it at first sight! That day, though, I left with only my fertilizer ... and this photo.
Last week, I returned to the nursery and bought it. That sweet image of mother and child was more than I could resist. My career has always been to be a mother to my children, and it reminds me of so many wonderful times spent snuggling with my babies. My girls are grown now (and one has babies of her own), so this can also represent me with my precious grandbabies.
The statue is pretty large, about two feet high and very heavy. For now, I'm going to have to wait for inspiration to strike because I have no idea where I should put it. As I continue to reclaim and refine the gardens, I trust that I will think of the perfect place. Until then, it's all MINE and I am thrilled to have it!

ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely! It was so gorgeous here (WV eastern panhandle) yesterday that I, too, went out exploring garden centers hoping to at least find some pretties for my gardens. Next time I'll head south into VA and make a day of it - the offerings here are slim to none. I've not been to Merryfield yet, is that near you? I hear its really great! Happy Gardening!
ReplyDeleteWhenever i buy a decorative item for inside or outside the house it is always quite the merry go round for awhile. I place it here and there and live with it for awhile. Eventually it always shows me where its home is... Love your statue! Hugs! deb

I think you should put this in your nursery garden! Where you grow all the baby roses, cut from their mother plants! My mom always talks about the summer she got pregnant with my older sister...she was so drawn to garden. Surprising because she never had any interest. By August, her garden was packed to the gills and she was pregnant. Gardening is definitely an exercise in the maternal instinct. I think even for men.
