Blogger Problems

I'm trying to work on a Christmas post about stuff that I did over the weekend, and Blogger is being difficult.  When I got to the point in the post where I wanted to add photos, I clicked on the photo uploader icon on the tool bar, it was quick to tell me that I can now drag and drop photos directly into posts.  Okay, sounds like a new feature.  I clicked the 'Got It' button, to indicate that I understood, and now, when I click the icon to upload photos, all I get is a blank box.  It should contain the upload features and previews of my photos ... GRRRRRRR!!

Seems to me that Blogger updated something and broke it in the process.

Anyone else having this problem?

Edited to add:  I shut down  my computer, started it back up, and now the uploader seems to be working.  Wish me luck.

  1. I'm still loading photos like I did before... Yes they change things and then it takes awhile to get the bugs out. Good Luck.

    1. Did you get the pop up message about the new drag and drop feature? I Googled the problem I'm having, and I can't find anything about it. Frustrating. (As the wife of a software developer, it makes me doubly frustrated when product updates break the feature they're supposed to be improving.)

  2. I did get that same message, but I am able to continue uploading my photos the same old way. So sorry you are having this issue with Blogger... that can be so frustrating... xox

    1. I don't know what happened or why my computer wasn't processing the new uploader window, but it seems to be fine now after I shut down and restarted my computer. I'm sure that the true cause will always remain a mystery.

  3. Blogger can be wonderful... and it can also suck.
    Good Luck!

    1. Blogger and its editor are definitely 'the devil that I know'. I'm familiar with its quirks (after seven years at this blogging thing), and I work around them when I can. My favorite new thing with Blogger is the mobile app. It's not quite as full of functions as the desktop version, but at least I can blog on the go if I want to.

  4. i feel your pain. I had a major issue a while back. Converted to wordpress, with no regrets.

    1. I applaud your initiative to switch to a different platform. I'm not sure that I have the motivation (yet) to do that. Glad it worked so well.

  5. I've had lots of issues with blogger the past year. I finally gave up and switched to Wordpress. I like it and it's very simple to use. I hope you get it all worked out.

    1. I tend to hang onto things and find a work-around for problems. Computer stuff falls into this category. Blogger has been relatively good to me for the past eight years, so I stay. This laptop does what it does, and it doesn't do new stuff, and I'm okay with that. The only outstanding issue that I know of is one with comments ... some readers can't comment for whatever reason. I have no idea what the solution to THAT could be ... if there's a solution at all.

  6. I'm also with blogger and got the notice but, thankfully, no problem.

    1. I'm wondering if it was an issue with something on this computer conflicting with the new feature, or if it was a Blogger issue all along. Restarting my computer, which may have cleared out some old cookies and stuff, appears to have worked.

  7. Drag and drop is great if the photos are on your desktop, not sure how that goes if they aren't. I haven't posted in so long I have no clue what changes have been made. Have you ever used drag and drop before? You just move your screen over just a little bit, click and hold on a photo, drag it and release it when you get it where you want it.

    1. I expect that I will try the new drag and drop, then I will return to my old way of uploading all the photos and inserting them the way I have always done.

  8. It sent me the same message, so I tried it....and....nothing. It didn't work. Doing it the old way until the new way actually works.

  9. Ah! When technology "simplifies"! :P Best wishes in the new process!
