Friday Flowers

When the weather is hot like it has been this week, I get out early in the morning when I have work to do outside.  This morning, it was spraying fungicide.  I was intent on my task ... concentrating on each individual plant ... then I looked up and I saw the big picture.

The roses in the Miniature Garden are continuing to flower their little butts off.  Some are spent already, but others are coming along to fill in the void.  The effect is completely overwhelming and I love it!

P.S.  I sure hope the heat leaves some flowers for visitors to enjoy during Open Garden next Sunday.

  1. What is the deep red rose blooming about 2/3rds of the way up and close to the fence; towards the top of the photo? Solid blooms!

    1. That's 'Firefall', a climbing mini that's trained to a large upside down tomato cage ... one of the lucky results that I hope for when I grow roses that I've never seen before.

    1. I know!! I looked up and said the same thing. It’s hard to see this whole garden, mainly because of its size and the fact that it’s almost always blazingly sunny in this spot. Getting an opportunity to see it in softer light, without glare, feels like a gift. It’s even better that I sort of captured the view with my phone.

    1. I took that photo with my phone, holding it over my head to get the best angle that I could to try to show the roses as well as possible. This garden is very long, and it's impossible to get all of it into one photo. I have a feeling that this year's Open Garden will be very popular.

  4. I am always sorry I never ordered a rose from you when you were selling them. I would have wanted something I could grow in a pot since I move around too much...lol! Any recommendations as to something I could buy that would grow well in a pot?

    1. Linda, there are lots of roses that can grow well in pots. Send a message to my friend Cydney at Rose Petals Nursery, and ask her what she recommends. I’m sure that she will have a suggestion as to what would do well for you, and will be happy to sell you a very nice plant.

    1. Your weather has been downright scary, Ms. A. I hope things turn around soon and that you get to dry out ... but not too dry. Good weather for reservoirs, bad for most everything else.

  6. How wonderfully pretty this looks! I just love the roses against the wooden fencing. The colors are happy and everything looks healthy.

Have a nice weekend and a great week preparing for the event that next Sunday.

    1. Thank you! This is rose garden is the one where I put all of my previous lessons and miscalculations (from building gardens that didn’t work as well at first) into the design, and I am so pleased at how well it has matured.

The weather ‘may’ cooperate next week. My greatest fear is that it does like what happened in 2011 and all the flowers in the garden get fried. It’s out of my control, I know. I won’t fret … I will simply deal with whatever happens. The place doesn’t have to be perfect, but I sure would like to have flowers for visitors to enjoy.
