I walked into the dining room a little while ago to find Ruby in one of her favorite spots, staring into the back yard with her back feet on the church pew that sits underneath the window and her elbows on the windowsill.
She was watching out for the groundhogs that hang out in the shade garden and under the pavilion.
Groundhogs are cute, but they are also incredibly destructive. These little guys' digging can eventually destroy the footings of the pavilion ... so they have to go. I have borrowed a humane trap to use to catch them, and there's a place down the road that is the perfect spot to let them go once I trap them.
I'm feeling a bit like Billy the Exterminator right now ... I love that show!

Love the "guard dog"! I hope those things don't find their way back to your place. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteWe have raccoons, and they can be rascals as well. Good girl, Ruby.
ReplyDeleteMy brother's Jack Russell is locked in an epic battle with the resident groundhogs. It gives her a reason to get up in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI was sorry to read about your Daniel and am sending good wishes.
Our Duke has been trying to chase one out of our yard too!
ReplyDeleteMy miniature Schnauzer chases the ground squirrels too. Ruby just looks like a sweet dog. The kind you want to just hug.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like she is taking her responsibility very seriously indeed!
