Worker Bee

I got dressed in work clothes and was out early this morning, to spray some Round Up on the gravel paths of the Rose Field while the air was still.  I wasn't alone.

This little bumblebee was hard at work, gathering pollen from a flower on 'Mutabilis'.

It's going to be a hot, sunny day ... a good day to chase the shade while working outside ... pulling weeds, deadheading roses, and enjoying the garden I have worked so hard to create.

What are your plans?

  5. Well, I made brunch for Hubby, went and completed the grocery shopping that I started yesterday, and now I am sitting here sipping an iced coffee and catching up on blog reading. Totally staying out of the sun as it's going to be a warm day, I can tell because the dogs come inside totally panting their heads off.

  6. I am doing pretty much the same as you. My climbers and ramblers from you are spreading like crazy all over the hill I planted them on. Many are blooming and the rest will do so shortly. Amazing for roses planted just a year ago.

  7. It's been raining here all week and not expected to let up until next week. So, I'm taking this opportunity to catch up on some reading and sleep and crossing off some of the things on my indoor To Do list because once the rain stops I'll have lots of work to do outside!

  9. I plan to do just like you, in my Texas garden, early in the am when the air is still and it's still "somewhat" cool, will get the roundup down and start weeding - never ending!!

  11. Mowed three acres of grass, pruned some perennials, watered the garden, cleaned the pond filter and topped off the pond, and did a little weeding. Then collapsed on the porch with a glass of wine! lol!
