A Little Dream House

When my dog Emma and I go to Manassas (about an hour away) for her acupuncture appointments, we always take country roads to get there.  Besides being incredibly scenic and relaxing, it's also the most direct way to get there from here.  Along the way, we pass this incredible house.

I can't tell if it's a converted church, or a house that has been modified to look like it's a converted church.  Whatever it is, I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.

Whoever lives here must work during the week, because I have never seen a car in the driveway on the days Emma and I go past.  I have vowed to stop and knock on the door to introduce myself, if I ever go past and find any sign of anyone at home.

I tell my dear Husband that this house will be my widow's retirement cottage.  I will fill the yard with roses and the house with cats.  He just laughs at me and nods.

One day, I will meet the person who lives here!

  1. Isn't it funny how we can lock on to certain houses? I hope that you do stop sometime and meet the people who live there.

Does Emma go to acupuncture for arthritis pain? About twelve years ago, I had a large golden retriever and I used to take him to acupuncture to manage arthritis pain. I think it helped.

  2. That is the cutest house. I wonder if it was a church first, too.

  3. What a lovely home - I thought at first glance it was a Church. I do hope you get to meet the home owner one day.
Does the acupuncture help dear Emma?

  4. Hi Connie, This home is adorable. There is a home built to look like a church near our Fl home. There were so many people that would stop and try to get in the "church" that they had to put a private residence sign up. They actually had one couple walk right in their living room!

  5. Isn't it wonderful that there are still such gems around. One fantasizes that the people who live there must be very nice and also interesting.

  10. I love the color scheme. There is a converted church on Hanover that a friend of mine lives in. It is very cool but, unfortunately, the color of the stained glass sets your palette and casts a weird glow. I'll show it to you very soon!!

  15. Oh, yes....I could be very happy there, too, Connie! What an adorable house! It does look like it used to be a church long ago. Those windows are amazing and what a beautiful view they have of the woods.....It would be very interesting to hear the story of this charmer and who owns her! :)

  17. Oh, I hope you do stop and knock on the door of this sweet and beautiful house. It's fun to imagine what the inside looks like and what the people are like. I can't wait until you have news to tell us!

  19. I agree it is a beautiful house, we've passed it many times going to visit my Grandparents in Goldvein. I do believe my Grandma told me it was once a church, but it's been so long ago, I might be remembering wrong. I have loved reading your blog since I stumbled on it after looking for information on Lomond House.
