Sunday Snapshot ... Christmas Decorating With Kittens.

Yesterday, Alice and Dorothy were cuddled together sleeping on the Family Room couch.  I had no idea at the time that they were resting up for the busy afternoon they had been planning.

Cats are very helpful creatures, and kittens (with their endless energy and limitless imaginations) are particularly helpful.  Alice and Dorothy first hopped on the bins of Christmas decorations to see what to unpack first.

Their paws are too small to lift the lids on the bins, so they turned their attention to the Christmas tree.  Dorothy found it to be quite tasty.

The few ornaments that were on the tree at the time were not arranged to their liking.  Being the helpful kittens they are, they removed the ones that they felt were in the wrong places ... ie., the ones on the lowest limbs.

Action shot of Alice in the tree and Dorothy pouncing on a ball on the tree skirt.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would find it hard to believe that this innocent little creature could possibly be capable of such mischief.  Not!!

Thank goodness for shatterproof, plastic Christmas ornaments!

  1. Kittens plus Christmas tree = mischief!! So cute though. Yes only plastic ornaments. They are so full of energy! Charlie is much more likely to sleep under the tree then play there.

  5. The first image is so darling. The one under the tree with balls all around, so familiar. Cats can be so adorable one minute and so mischievous the next. Opps, I hear something smash, gotta go.

  7. Adorable!!!! They just oooooze mischief, don't they? lol! But those cute faces just melt your heart..... :) My kitties are too old to get in to things anymore. I have one, though, that would like to eat everything off my plate every night, though. :) Merry Christmastide to you!

  8. This post brings back memories of my childhood, when our cat climbed straight up the center of the Christmas tree one night and it all came crashing down. As a 9 yr. old boy, I thought it was the coolest thing ever! My mom was not so pleased.......

  9. Chris, we had the same thing happen to us when we were newlyweds many years ago. I came home from work at lunch one day to find a horizontal Christmas tree, dozens of smashed ornaments, and a very innocent looking cat. After that, we wired the tree to the wall. Good thing we did, because during that whole Christmas season we would randomly find the cat peeking out from somewhere in the tree.

These two have shown no inclination to climb ... she says while furiously knocking wood.

  10. LOL! Thank you so much for posting these pics... Yesterday, on Christmas Eve, on of our kittens wa missing. My hubby Peter searched the whole house... no luck. At last, he asked me (I was already half asleep) where she could be, and I told him to look at the same place she was found last Christmas: under the tree! And there she was.
Happy Christmas! Hugs, Lola from Germany

  11. I have the same kind of helpers this year. Ever since the tree went up they have been exporting a few of the lighter ornaments (some dried flowers) to other rooms. I'm sure I'll still be finding them in June.
