Rainy Day To Do List

Today is rainy, windy, and freakishly warm (62 degrees, according to the thermometer on my deck).  The weatherman says that it's going to go downhill from here ... with falling temperatures and storms for the rest of the day.  I woke up early this morning, and have already spent part of my time trying to think of a way to organize the thousands of photos on this computer.  So far, all I've done is thumb through some of them.

As I was leafing through the files, I found a set of photos that I took in September.  This pink rose is the lovely Sarah Van Fleet.  I remember seeing how the pink roses looked against the blue sky and the red barn, and I tried to capture what I saw.

As much as I would love to spend this rainy day sitting here with my down throw and my cats, playing with photos and writing, I can't.  There is too much to do ... and none of it is anything I WANT to do.

(focusing on the barn)

I will be out of here in less than an hour, on my way to a Dr. appointment.  Since I'm on the far side of 50 now, it's time for me to be a grown up and take control of my health.  I have always been ridiculously healthy, so it's been easy to ignore the supposed-need for regular medical check-ups.  It's something I know I HAVE to do, but I still hate it.

(focusing on the flowers)

After I get home, I will put on my grubby clothes and set to work on a long-standing, nagging house project.  This is a project that has been going on longer than any other around here, and I really want to have it finished in the next couple of weeks.  Yesterday, I touched up the last little bit of irregularities in the drywall work and I painted the ceiling.  Today's planned accomplishments?  If I can get the walls painted and the floor figured out, it will be a good day.  Wish me luck.

What I REALLY want to do today is unpack my Christmas decorations!  If I'm a good girl and get my work done, maybe I'll have time to do just a little bit.

  1. I do wish you luck. Sounds like you did a lot of work yesterday.

It's back to the mantel painting project for me. I could use a sunny morning to make the painting easier, but will just use the big painter's lights today.

  2. I could smell those roses - beautiful photos! Good luck with your projects and Dr. appointment. I hate having to go off and do things like that when I want to do other things! I'm in the process of decorating for Christmas, and it's snowing here - it's a pretty sweet scene!

  3. Gorgeous pictures, and yes you do have to go visit the doctor once every decade at least!! I hope you get everything done on your to do list so that I can live vicariously through you with your Christmas decorations. Mine will remain in tubs for at least a few more days...maybe!

  5. Sarah Van Fleet is gorgeous! Wonderful pictures.
I know what you mean about going to the Dr. I am also on the other side of 50 and know I should see the dr. too. I hate the thought. I have been blessed with good health in life so I just (stupidly) keep putting it off!
I hope you got your other to-do things done so you could start playing with your Christmas decorations. I haven't started. Oh, yes I have...I bought a wreath today...does that count!?!
